UMCOR

Heads-up Chapel Hill!  The grocery sack ministry focus for March is UMCOR's Layette Kit program.  Layette Kits are supplies that will help displaced new mothers in  Haiti to comfort and care for their new babies.

This is a small, but critically important way we can address a bit of the need in that ravaged place, and help these sweet babies and their moms.  We'll get the opportunity to help assemble these kits on March 21st, at the potluck!  You may bring items on any Sunday in March if you like, a grocery sack will go on your car the 14th.

UMCOR asks that we be very specific, not adding to, nor changing their formula and only including new items. Each Kit will contain:
  • 6 cloth diapers
  • 2 shirts or 2 one-piece body suits
  • 2 baby washcloths
  • 2 gowns or sleepers
  • 2 diaper pins
  • 1 sweater open in the front
  • 2 receiving blankets
Dear hearts, when you are out shopping for your homes and families, please take this list along too and remember to toss a few of these items - a receiving blanket, or other list item into your grocery basket during the first three weeks of March!  When you do, say a little prayer for the new moms, the babies who will be receiving these much needed supplies.  If you are not a shopper, bring a few dollars to cover items we didn't collect in enough quantity!
